NC to register party at EC for elections



KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Nepali Congress, Central Work Execution Committee on Saturday decided to register the party at the Election Commission (EC).

The meeting presided over by party President Sher Bahadur Deuba decided to register the party at the Election Commission (EC) to participate in the first-past-the-post and proportional representation elections to the members of the House of Representatives (HoR) and Province Assembly to be held on coming November 20.

The party has assigned its office chief secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel to register the NC at the election commission in accordance with Article 271 of the Nepal Constitution and Section 48 of the Political Party Act, 2073 BS.

Unanimously endorsing a proposal presented by party general-secretary Biswo Prakash Sharma, the meeting decided to entrust party President Deuba to provide an official letter of nomination to the candidates to be filed in elections on behalf of the party.

The party’s nationwide election campaign would be conducted from coming August 22 (Friday) to September 9 (Friday), stated a press release issued by chief secretary Poudel. The meeting took place at the party office, Sanepa. (RSS)
