Elections most likely to be held in a single phase in mid-November

Chairman of Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has said that the elections to the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly will most probably be held in mid-November.

“We are preparing to hold the general elections and province-level elections in mid-November or the first week of December this year.

TU forms probe committee to deal with TU questions repeat issue

The Tribhuvan University (TU) has formed a committee to investigate the repetition of question papers in its recent exams for two papers of Master’s degree under the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

According to TU registrar and central examinations committee chair Prof Dr Peshal Dahal, the three-member committee has been formed to probe the matter and it is coordinated by Professor Ghanashyam Bhattarai.

UML Chairman Oli, and Maoist leader Shrestha hold talks

CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli and Maoist Center’s central leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha have discussed a possible alliance among the Left political parties.

Shrestha reached Oli’s residence in Balkot on Sunday evening to meet him, sources have said.

Sports Minister leaves for Russia leading boxing delegation

An eight -member delegation led by Minister for Youth and Sports Maheshwor Jung Gahatraj left for Russia on Monday at the invitation of Boxing Federation of Russia and the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation.

NEPSE to open six days a week, to operate two hours on Fridays

The share market will be open six days a week with effect from June 15.

According to Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) spokesperson Murahari Parajuli, the market will be open six days a week except for Saturday from coming Wednesday.

Parajuli informed that the share trading will be open from 11 am to 3 pm from Sunday to Thursday and the market will remain open from 11 am to 1 pm on Friday.

IRC directs govt to promptly begin Nijgadh Airport construction

The International Relations Committee (IRC) of the Lower House has directed the government to start the construction work of Nijgadh International Airport at the earliest.

Endorsing a report tabled by IRC-formed panel to study, monitor and analyze the problems related to civil aviation on Monday, the parliamentary committee decided to forward the report to the concerned body for implementation.

15-member team announced for ACC Women’s T20 Cricket Championship

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has announced a 15-member team under captainship of Rubina Chhetri for the upcoming ACC Women’s T20 Cricket Championship.

The ACC Women’s T-20 Cricket Championship is scheduled to be held in Malaysia on June 17-25.

NEPSE declines by 15.82 points Monday

The downtrend of the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) continued on Monday, the first trading day of the week.

The market declined by 15.82 points to 2032.34 points.

The stock market, which had increased only one day after the May 29 budget, has been declining continuously for long.

Lawmakers seek information about PM’s impending visit to US

Lawmakers in the House of Representatives have sought information on Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s visit to the United States of America slated for the last week of Asar (second week of July).

The lawmakers participating in discussions on the implementation of the foreign policy in a meeting of the International Relations Committee (IRC) of the lower house of the Federal Parliament on Monday expressed it would be appropriate to hold necessary discussions and consultations with all the parties before the prime minister’s visit to any foreign country.
