Supreme Court hearing writ against IGP promotion today

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) is hearing a writ petition filed against the promotion of the Inspector General of Nepal Police today.

Additional General of Police Bishwo Raj Pokharel moved the apex court after the government appointed Dhiraj Pratap Singh as the IGP arguing that an officer junior to him was appointed as the IGP.

The hearing on the writ against the IGP promotion, which began on May 31, is taking place for the second time today.

Pokharel in the writ petition has argued that an officer junior was picked as the IGP breaching the Nepal Police Act and existing regulations.
