113-year-old woman votes from Morang



BIRATNAGAR: Morang district, having the highest number of voters at 715,223 among the total nationwide 17.73 million voters enlisted in the Election Commission of Nepal, saw probably the eldest voter in today’s local election.

Maheshwora Adhikari, 113, probably became the eldest voter in Morang district, if not nationally, when she visited Panchayat Secondary School at Gothgaun, Morang district today to cast her ballot in the local election.

The resident of Sundar Haraicha-7 reached the polling station with the support of her family members to take part in the voting, informed Election Officer Madhav Bhandari.

Bhandari shared that election is being held peacefully since morning. There are 71,756 voters in Sundar Haraicha Municpality.

Meanwhile, another woman of the same age in Tanahu district also cast her ballot today becoming one of the eldest voters in the country’s ongoing election. Gopimaya Pokharel of Barbhanjyang in Bhanu municipality exercised her franchise today morning.
