UML and RPP Nepal to form electoral alliance for local elections

KATHMANDU: KP Oli-led CPN-UML and Kamal Thapa-led Rashtriya Prajatantra Party Nepal (RPP Nepal) have agreed to form an electoral alliance and contest under UML’s election symbol the ‘Sun’.

In a program organized at UML’s Thapathali-based central office, the top leaders of CPN-UML and RPP Nepal Chairman Thapa agreed to form an alliance and contest together in the upcoming local level elections on May 13.

UML capable of providing stability to democracy, says Chair Oli

CPN-UML Chair KP Oli has said that his party is capable of providing stability to the country’s democracy.

He said this while addressing an extensive party assembly organized by the UML Biratnagar Metropolitan Committee here today.

He said the party is making efforts for bringing all Nepalis of various linguistic communities and living in different geographical regions in the great campaign of consolidating the federal republic and vesting the sovereignty in the people through a common movement of all Nepalis.

Dipendra makes position in the top 10 of the ICC rankings

Nepali all-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee has managed to be in the top 10 in the T20 International rankings.

Dipendra, who has a rating of 152 rating points in the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) T20 International all-rounder rankings, is in the top 10.

He was declared Man of the Series for his all-round performance in the triangular T20 International Cricket series played at TU Cricket Stadium, Kirtipur in Kathmandu last month.

NEPSE goes green on last day of 2078 BS

The share market has gone green on the last transaction day of the year 2078 BS.

NEPSE, which had seen a sharp fall in the indicator of late, ended with an affirmative note marking the rise of 30.24 points Wednesday.

The stock market index rose to 2415.24 points today. However, the share turnover has been less than Rs 1.5 billion today.

CEC Thapaliya calls for making election fair and frugal

Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya has directed the chief election officers and election officers to conduct the local level election responsibly and with due sensitivity.

Addressing a province-level training of trainers on operation and management of the Local level Elections-2079 BS organized by the election Commission, Nepal here today, he stressed on the need of making the local level election free, fair and frugal.

Panchthar police has arrested a father for raping his 12-year-old daughter in Phidim of Panchthar.

According to the District Police Office, Panchthar, the father raped his 12-year-old daughter in Phidim Municipality-5.

The 43-year-old father had fled after raping his 12-year-old daughter.
