Govt to resume issuing labor permits to Malaysia



KATHMANDU: The government has decided to resume issuing work permits to Nepalis aspiring to go Malaysia on foreign employment.

The work permit for Malaysia had been closed for two years as the Malaysian government had stated that it would hire foreign workers.

Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security Krishna Kumar Shrestha directed to resume the work of providing work permits in accordance with the prevailing law as labor permit had not been issued for about two years.

The government decided to approve the labor permits in line with the Foreign Employment Act, 2007, and the Nepal-Malaysia Labor Agreement if workers demand letter has been certified by the embassy.
