SC directs to submit UML’s 14 defecting leaders related case for full hearing



KATHMANDU: A writ petition filed by Chairman KP Oli has been ordered to be submitted for a full hearing almost after seven months of registration at the Supreme Court (SC).

A division bench of Justices Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada and Kumar Chundal, on Sunday, directed to execute hearing of the case related to the 14 defecting lawmakers including Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhala Nath Khanal at a full bench.

A date for a full hearing is yet to be set.

Despite UML Chairman Oli’s demand for an interim order, the case has been repeatedly pushed for a hearing. Now, after a full hearing, it will be decided whether the 14 defecting UML lawmakers will retain their posts or lose it.

Earlier, the writ petition had been filed for hearing 11 times. This is the 12th time. Most of them were unable to see Pace.

A writ petition has been filed in the apex court on September 2 alleging that Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota has spared the seats of 14 parliamentarians including Nepal. While filing a writ petition at SC, UML chair Oli made 14 lawmakers, including Speaker Sapkota defendant in the case.

The writ petition demanded the dismissal of the 14 defecting lawmakers.
