Maoist Center will discuss MCC after local elections: Prachanda

BIRATNAGAR: Chairman of Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has said that the party will hold further discussions on Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) after the local elections.

Even though the MCC Compact has been approved by the House of Representatives in support of the Maoist Center, some leaders within the party have continued to oppose it.

Prachanda said that discussions on MCC will be held only after the local elections.

Prachanda, who arrived in Biratnagar on Sunday for party training in Province No. 1, told reporters, “We will discuss MCC again after the local elections.”

Maoist Chairman Prachanda also said that he would resign from the party if MCC did not succeed. “If MCC fails, I will resign. Rest assured,” he said.

“The issue has now been resolved after the House of Representatives passed an agreement with an interpretative declaration,” Prachanda said.
