145 Nepalis stranded in Saudi Arabia in dire straits

DOHA: As many as 145 Nepali youths who arrived in Saudi Arabia for overseas employment are in dire straits.

They are stranded as they have not been able to get the work and salary as per the agreement.

They arrived at the Easton Connection Maintenance Company some 40 days ago through the Blue Galaxy Overseas in Sinamangal, Kathmandu.

Sonahang Rai informed that they have paid Rs. 180,000 to Rs. 200,000 per person to Ramesh Amgain and Shyam Hari Aryal of Blue Galaxy.

They complained that the manpower company had sent them to Saudi Arabia to work as cleaners and gardeners inside the Saudi Army Camp, but when they arrived there, they were asked to clean the streets.

“The manpower company, which did not pay any attention to the repeated requests, has blocked their number,” he said.

He said they have been staying in a room for a couple of days as the company has not paid the initial one month’s salary.

The Nepali Embassy in Riyadh has been informed but no initiative has been taken, they complained.

They have also urged the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security, Department of Foreign Employment, various social organizations, and other concerned bodies to create a conducive environment for their return home.
