Land fraud case: Seven including ward chair arrested

SANKHUWASABHA: Police have arrested seven persons, including the ward chair and an employee of Land Revenue Office, in a land fraud case in Bhotkhola village of Sankhuwasabha district.

The team including the ward chair of Bhotkhola rural municipality-4 Kinsang Bhote has been charged of illegally transferring the ownership of 27 ropani of land of local Dal Bahadur Tamang.

A seven-member team, including Ward Chair Bhote and an employee of the Land Revenue Office, was arrested by the police on the charge of passing the land registered in the name of the late Tamang in the name of another person.

The District Police Office has made public the names of seven persons arrested on the charge of land forgery.

Among the arrested are Ward Chair Bhote, Surendra Tamang of the same ward, Kalpana Bhote, Nima Lajung Bhote, Mahendra Kumar Parajuli of Khandbari-1, Anish Gurung and Pasang Sherpa of Chainpur Municipality, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Lal Dhwaj Subedi.

After Dal Bahadur’s death, his only child is Bimaya Tamang. It has been revealed that the land was transferred in the name of 75-year-old daughter Bimaya.

But Bimaya had no information that the land was transferred in her name. According to the police, Bhote prepared a copy of the documents required to transfer the land ownership.

It is said that the ward chair used the help of Mahendra Kumar Parajuli, an employee of the Land Revenue Office, Khandbari to transfer the ownership of land.
