As many as 1,300 Ukrainian troops killed so far: Ukrainian President



KYIV: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that 1,300 Ukrainian troops have died in the Ukraine-Russia war so far.

He said that around 500-600 Russian troops surrendered to Ukrainian forces as of Friday.

Reports suggest that a military airfield south of Kyiv was hit by missiles and that the bulk of Russian forces is just 25km from the city, BBC has reported.

Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz urge Russian President Vladimir Putin to agree a ceasefire.

According to reports, people in Mariupol city are said to be enduring freezing temperatures with no power, and little food and water.
