President Bhandari arrives home after Iceland visit

President Bidya Devi Bhandari returned home this morning after completing an official visit to Iceland.

Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, Chairperson of National Assembly Ganesh Prasad Timilsina welcomed the President at the VVIP lounge of Tribhuvan International Airport.

President Bhandari had left for Iceland on November 7 to participate in the ‘Women Political Leaders (WPL) program.

NC-Maoist agreement for republic and constitution: Chair Dahal

Chairperson of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal, ‘Prachanda’ asserted that establishment of republic and promulgation of a new constitution in the country were possible due to agreement between sickle and hammer crossed (election symbol of Maoist Centre) and tree (election symbol of Nepali Congress).

Both the parties are the part of four-parties in the current ruling coalition.

Dahal expressed so at a programme organized at Palungtar Municipality today morning in course of his election campaign.

LSP Chair Thakur seeks vote for his ‘last’ tenure in HoR

Chairperson of the Loktantrik Samajbadi Party(LSP), Mahantha Thakur, has said his candidacy this time was for the last time.

A candidate for the member of House of Representatives (HoR) from Mahottari Constituency-3, Thakur mentioned that he would not be in election race from next time.

In course of door-to-door campaign, Chair Thakur, has been urging voters to vote for him as it was his last attempt.

PM Deuba reaches Chitwan to attend various programs

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has arrived in Chitwan to address an election assembly organized by democratic-left alliance in Chitwan today.

Prime Minister Deuba arrived at Bharatpur Airport by helicopter. He is visiting the house of Nepali Congress Central Committee member Tek Prasad Gurung.

Gurung’s wife Shir Maya Gurung had passed away on November 6. PM Deuba is scheduled to go to Gurung’s house to extend condolences.

After Gurung’s house, PM will reach the house of social and political personality of Gaindakot late Tilak Sapkota to extend condolence to the bereaved family members. Sapkota passed away on November 9.

Nepal sees eight new coronavirus cases in past 24 hours

Nepal recorded a total of eight new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours as of Saturday.

All the confirmed cases were detected through the RT-PCR method.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, a total of 680 swab samples were tested in the past 24 hours.

EC directs two municipalities to immediately conduct voter education program

The Election Commission (EC) has directed two municipalities in Siraha to immediately conduct voter education program.

It instructed the Chair and the Chief Administrative Officer of Sakhuwa Nankarkatti rural municipality and the Mayor and the Chief Administrative Officer of the Sukhipur municipality in Siraha district to run the voter education program in an effective way.

The election constitutional body on Friday directed the two local levels to immediately conduct the voter education program if not done so and to inform it within 24 hours of receiving its letter.

PM Deuba extends sorrow over Sapkota’s demise

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has extended condolences to the family members of the late Tilak Prasad Sapkota, a social and political personality of Gaidakot.

PM Deuba reached the residence of the late Sapkota to extend condolences to the bereaved family members. Sapkota had passed away on November 9.

Reminding late Sapkota’s contribution to the democracy and Nepali Congress politics, PM Deuba viewed Sapkota’s demise is a huge loss to the party.

Integrated election cell comes into operation in all three levels: NA

The Nepali Army (NA) has set up and brought into operation the Integrated Election Security Cell at the centre, province and district levels for the House of Representatives and Province Assembly Member elections scheduled for this November 20.

Around 75,000 personnel will be deputed for the entire election-related security, including securing the polling stations, transportation of polling materials, reserve force and air patrolling, among others, the NA Public Relations and Information Directorate said.

The Directorate stated that army personnel have been deployed and mobilized at 779 places for the election security.

CAN named Rohit Paudel as national cricket team captain

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) named vice-captain Rohit Paudel as the captain of the Nepal national cricket team on Friday.

The 20-year-old batter will lead Nepal in a three-match One-Day International (ODI) bilateral series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) scheduled for November 14, 16, and 18 at the TU ground in Kirtipur.

Paudel will replace former captain Sandeep Lamichhane.
