Top leaders of ruling coalition still scrambling to thrash out seat sharing



KATHMANDU: A meeting of the top leaders of the ruling coalition has ended inconclusively yet again.

The top leader of the ruling alliance had discussed seat sharing for about 8 hours 40 minutes today (Monday).

The meeting had started from 9 am at Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar, Kathmandu.

According to Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, the meeting could not thrash out differences despite being in discussions for long.

“Today there was a long discussion but unfortunately no conclusion has been reached,” Prachanda’s secretariat said, quoting the Maoist chair.

Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Chairman Upendra Yadav said that seat sharing deal was still vague though the ruling parties had quality discussion about the number of seats and electoral constituencies.

He said, “There has been a quality discussion about the number of seats and electoral constituencies. However, the deal is still not crystal clear.”
