Ruling coalition meeting on seat sharing underway at Baluwatar

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the five-party ruling coalition to decide the allocation of seats in the November 20 elections to the House of Representatives and State Assembly is underway at Baluwatar.

The meeting held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar is discussing the allocation of seats among the five ruling parties.

The leaders were supposed to thrash out the differences on Sunday. However, despite the all-day effort, the leaders failed to thrash out the contentious issue of allocation of seats.

On Saturday, top leaders of the five-party ruling coalition met to discuss and decide the number of seats in the November 20 elections to the House of Representatives and State Assembly.

The meeting of the task force and the top leaders held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Saturday and Sunday could not make any headway as the party leaders remained adamant about their respective positions.

Even though the Nepali Congress (NC) initially claimed 100 seats, it has agreed to maintain flexibility.

Likewise, the Maoist Center had claimed 60 seats, Unified Socialist 25 seats and Janata Samajbadi 25 seats.
