Government forms task force to combat loan sharking

The government has formed a task force to take steps for the containment of loan sharking.

The six-member taskforce formed by Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand at the direction of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is coordinated by Home Ministry’s joint-secretary Dr Bhishma Bhusal.

It follows the ministry-level decision.

PM Deuba calls for developing youth entrepreneurship to cut educated unemployment

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has stressed the need for developing youth entrepreneurship to reduce educated unemployment.

Youths should unite and become active for the development of the country, he emphasized at an event organized here today by the International Youth Day main organizing committee on the occasion of the International Youth Day.

Govt committed to all language and ethnic communities: Minster Karki

Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki said development of all language and ethnic communities was first and foremost for the country to prosper.

In his address at a program organized in Kathmandu Friday on the occasion of 31st anniversary of the Nepal Kushwaha Kalyan Samaj, Minister Karki, also the government spokesperson, stressed on the economic, social and cultural development of the grassroots community for creating base for prosperous Nepal.

NC Prez Deuba calls CWC meeting for Saturday

Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has called a meeting of the Central Working Committee (CWC) for Saturday morning.

A meeting is to be held at the party central office in Sanepa at 9 am on Saturday.

NC Spokesperson Prakash Sharan Mahat said that the meeting would discuss preparations for November 20 election, party registration for election purposes, the gathering of people’s representatives on August 15-16 and nationwide organization building campaign to be held from August 18 to September 9, among others.

Rape victim attempts self-immolation outside President’s Office

Rape victim and single mother Niharika Rajput has tried to immolate herself outside the President’s Office, Shital Niwas, in Kathmandu on Friday.

In an effort to draw the attention of the authorities, Rajput tried to immolate herself. But, as soon as she poured petrol on her body, police stopped her.

He act is demonstrative of her series of struggle for justice. Her demands include punishment to the rapist, DNA test of the child resulting from the rape, among others.
