Cultural artifacts stolen from Nepal in 1980s return home
Two 12-13th century wooden struts stolen from the Narayan Temple at Hyumat Tole near Teku in the 1980s have been returned to their rightful places in Kathmandu on Tuesday.
An independent American art collector not only returned the struts to the Nepali Consulate General in New York but also covered the costs of delivering them back to Nepal, said the US Embassy in Kathmandu.
US Embassy Acting Deputy Chief of Mission Abigail Aronson joined Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Maheswar Neupane, today to welcome these beautiful Nepali cultural artifacts back to Kathmandu.
CCP foreign department chief Liu and UML Chair Oli hold talks
Visiting head of the International Liaison Department of the Chinese Communist Party, Liu Jianchao has intensified political meetings in Nepal on Tuesday as well.
Today, he met with CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli at the latter’s residence in Balkot.
During the meeting, the two leaders discussed the current political situation, bilateral issues, and Communist unity in the country.
NC makes public proposed hierarchy of office bearers, members
The ruling Nepali Congress (NC) has proposed a hierarchy of office bearers and members of various levels and bodies of the party.
In the Central Committee meeting held in Sanepa on Tuesday, the NC proposed 121 ranks from party president to ordinary members.
In the new order of precedence, party president is ranked first followed respectively by former NC president, prime minister, former prime minister, leaders of parliamentary party, central office bearers, former leaders of parliamentary party, former central office bearers, central members, leaders of National Assembly, provincial presidents and invited central members.
Visiting CPC delegation chief Liu calls on CPN (US) Chairperson Nepal
The visiting Communist Party of China (CPC) vistign delegation led by its International Department Chief, Liu Jianchao, held a courtesy meeting with CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairperson Madhav Kumar Nepal.
In the meeting held at Hotel Everest in New Baneshwor, Kathmandu, today, the two leaders discussed further strengthening Nepal-China relations, according to chairperson Nepal.
The meeting was also attended by the top officials and members of the International Department from both parties.
NEPSE gains 11.68 points on Tuesday
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index gained 11.68 points to close the stock market at 1,927.28 points on Tuesday.
The index gained 0.61% against loss of 77.01 points on Monday.
The index that opened at 1916.41 made an intraday low of 1,908.59 points and an intraday day high of 1,947.54 points. Ultimately the index closed at 1,927.28 points.
CIAA registers case against seven for irregularities in livestock market
The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) filed a case at the Special Court today against seven persons on the charge of irregularities in the construction of a livestock market in Terhathum district.
The anti-graft body filed the case against Program Director at the Livestock Market Directorate under the Department of Livestock Services Balaram Thapa Kshettri, account officer Ram Prasad Bajagain, senior veterinary Purja Sharma, Kirat Yakthum Chumlung Agriculture Cooperatives Limited’s Chairperson Ganesh Prasad Limbu.
Bharatpur Mayor Dahal urges PM Deuba to take Intl Cricket Stadium construction ahead
Mayor of Chitwan’s Bharatpur Metropolitan City Renu Dahal has requested Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba to further the construction activities of Dhurmus-Foundation initiated International Cricket Stadium.
Meeting Prime Minister Deuba at his official residence in Baluwatar on Tuesday morning, Mayor Dahal requested the PM for necessary assistance in the construction of the stadium.
The construction work of the stadium was started by the Dhurmus-Suntali Foundation of artists Sitaram Kattel ‘Dhurmus’ and Kunjana Ghimire ‘Suntali’. The construction work carried out by the foundation by collecting donations from various individuals and organizations is currently stalled.
