It’s shameful to fail to nominate Deputy Speaker and Vice-Chairman: Bamdev Gautam

KATHMANDU: National Assembly member Bamdev Gautam has termed it shameful to keep the post of Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) and the Vice-chairman of National Assembly (NA) vacant for a long time.

Taking part in NA meeting on Tuesday, leader Gautam blamed the government and said that it had not paid attention to the selection of the Deputy Speaker and the Vice-Chairperson of the National Assembly.

He claimed that the delay in the election was due to the provision of having a woman vice-president and deputy speaker in the constitution. He suggested that women parliamentarians should agitate for holding elections for two posts.

Gautam drew the attention of National Assembly Speaker Ganesh Prasad Timilsina to take initiative for the appointment of National Assembly Vice-Chairperson.
