Govt committed to workers’ rights: PM Deuba

Prime Minister and Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has reaffirmed government’s commitment to implement rights of the workers.

Inaugurating the national conference of Nepal Trade Union Congress (NTUC) in Kathmandu on Sunday, PM Deuba reiterated that his government would leave no stone unturned for full enforcement of the contribution-based Social Security Act.

UML’s concern: Is PM Deuba visiting the United States in the capacity of PM or Defense Minister?

The main opposition CPN-UML has demanded in Parliament to inform about the visit of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba to the United States.

Speaking in the House of Representatives today, UML lawmaker Pradip Gyawali, who is also a former Foreign Minister, demanded that the House be informed about Prime Minister Deuba’s visit to the United States.

“Is this visit of the Prime Minister taking place in the capacity of the Prime Minister or the Minister of Defense?” Gyawali asked. “It is important for the House to know about this.”

Around 200,000 tourists enter Nepal from January to May 2022

Around 200,000 tourists have entered Nepal from different countries through Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in the past five months.

According to the Department of Immigration under the Ministry of Home Affairs, tourists came to Nepal from more than 170 countries in the period from January to May 2022.

A total of 193,944 tourists visited Nepal and 183,675 tourists returned home from Nepal during the review period.

UML calls Secretariat meet on Monday

The main opposition CPN-UML has called a meeting of the Central Secretariat on Monday.

The UML has said three agendas would be broadly dealt with among others in the Secretariat tomorrow.

Review of local level elections, formation of the remaining departments of the party and training of elected people’s representatives at the local level, among others, are to be deliberated upon at the UML Secretariat.

More than 500,000 Nepalis leave home in five months

More than 500,000 Nepalis have left the country in the last five months.

According to the Immigration Department under the Ministry of Home Affairs, they went abroad for various purposes from January to May 2022.

This number is only for those leaving the Tribhuvan International Airport.
