More than 500,000 Nepalis leave home in five months

KATHMANDU: More than 500,000 Nepalis have left the country in the last five months.

According to the Immigration Department under the Ministry of Home Affairs, they went abroad for various purposes from January to May 2022.

This number is only for those leaving the Tribhuvan International Airport.

According to the department, 506,430 Nepalis have gone abroad in the last five months. In the same period, 384,000 people have returned home from abroad.

The Department informed that 105,972 left the country in January, 80,521 in February, and 98,555 in March.

Similarly, 107,666 left in April and 113,716 Nepalis have gone abroad in May.

According to the statistics of the department, 646,563 in the year had gone abroad in 2021. Similarly, 387,994 people had gone abroad for various purposes in 2020.
