UML lawmaker urges utilization of medicinal properties of marijuana

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML lawmaker Sher Bahadur Tamang has urged to utilize the medicinal properties of marijuana.

Speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Sunday, he drew attention of the House to the fact that CBD, a chemical derived from marijuana, and drugs made from CBD could cure life-threatening diseases like cancer and AIDS.

Urging the government to legalize the medicinal properties of marijuana, he claimed Nepal’s development infrastructure and the state’s debt of Rs 1.6 trillion could be repaid in a year or two if the country could manage the illegal cannabis.

Tamang’s proposal comes at a time when there is a demand for legalization of cannabis. He stressed  use of medicinal properties of hash and its export.
