Ruling coalition to discuss modalities of electoral alliance today

KATHMANDU: The ruling coalition has called a meeting for today afternoon to discuss the modalities of electoral alliance.

The meeting of the ruling coalition will be held at the Prime Minister’s official residence, Baluwatar at 4 pm.

According to Minister for Communication and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, the coalition leaders meeting held at Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s official residence at Baluwatar on Monday decided to meet again on Tuesday to discuss the modalities of electoral alliance.

Earlier, top leaders of the ruling alliance had met at the Prime Minister’s residence to discuss the feedback each party of the coalition got from the local levels.

Although most of the district committees have tuned themselves to the electoral alliance, they are still to forge an agreement on the distribution of the seats for each party.

“We will meet again at 4 pm on Tuesday to discuss the mechanism for electoral coordination,” Minister Karki said, adding, “All leaders agreed to forge consensus on the issue.”

The coalition leaders had issued a joint statement after Monday morning’s meeting and urged the leaders to retain cooperation in the upcoming elections.
