Govt introduces ordinance to grant amnesty to Resham Chaudhary

The government has brought an ordinance to grant amnesty to the rebels, including the leader of Nagarik Unmukti Party’s founder leader Resham Chaudhary.

According to a minister in Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s cabinet, the meeting of the Council of Ministers held in Baluwatar on Sunday decided to bring an ordinance to grant amnesty to leader Chaudhary and other rebel inmates.

Adding sub-section 9 to section 116 of the Civil Criminal Procedure Code, 2074, the government is going to provide amnesty to the rebels.

Local government strengthens accountable democratic practices: Prime Minister Deuba

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that public accountable democratic exercise has been further strengthened in the country after the newly-elected people’s representatives assumed their offices.

Prachanda suspects “foreign manipulation” during election

CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has claimed that there was foreign interference in the recently-concluded elections.

Speaking at the central officials’ meeting of Press Center Nepal in Kathmandu on Sunday, the Maoist Center Chairman remarked that the foreign forces have been trying to manipulate Nepal’s politics and that could include selecting who to make winner or loser.

He also said that America and China have interests in Nepal’s geopolitics.

Election Commission lifts election code of conduct

The Election Commission (EC) has lifted the election code of conduct to be effective from Monday, December 12.

The code was in force since September 28.

The code was in effect for the election to the House of Representatives and Province Assembly, which has been held successfully on November 20.

Will offer details on impeachment nullification letter while responding ‘show cause order’

General Secretary of the Federal Parliament Secretariat Bharatraj Gautam has sent a reply to Supreme Court that he would offer the details of granting impeachment nullification letter to suspended Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana to the Court while responding to the ‘show cause order’.

Coffee farming getting intl market, more youths attracted to farming

Coffee farming in Gulmi district has attracted local farmers following surging demand for coffee in foreign countries including Japan and France.

Manoj Pandey and Saroj Belbase of Resunga Municipality-8 have been engaged in the farming since one and a half years ago by planting as high as 20,000 coffee plant saplings in around 200 ropani lands at Pipalarukh of Aanpachaur. “We started coffee farming with the intension of toiling home instead of flying abroad for job opportunities,” shared Belbase.
