10 parties to represent Madhesh Pradesh Assembly



JANAKPURDHAM: A total of 10 political parties will be represented in Madhesh Province Assembly.

Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, Maoist Center, Janata Samajwadi Party, Janamat Party, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party, Unified Socialist, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Nepal Sanghiya Samajwadi Party and Nagarik Unmukti Party will be represented in the Madhesh Provincial Assembly, which has a total of 107 members.

UML, which won 15 seats under the first-past-the-post category in Madhesh Pradesh, has become the largest party with 8 more seats (total 23) added from the proportional representation category.

Similarly, the Nepali Congress, which won 13 seats under the first-past-the-post category, has become the second-largest party along with nine seats from the proportional representation category.

The Janata Samajbadi Party has won 16 seats including nine under the first-past-the-post category and 7 under PR category.

The Janamat Party led by CK Raut has been established as the fourth party in Madhes Province Assembly with 13 seats.

The Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP) has become the fifth-largest party with 9 seats altogether (seven and two).

The Maoist Center has become the sixth in Madhes Pradesh winning 8 seats.

Likewise, the Unified Socialisthas become the seventh-largest party with seven seats (4 directly-elected and 3 under PR system).

Six independent candidates have been directly-elected in Madhes Pradesh Assembly.
