Communication services disrupted in Jumla for five days



JUMLA: Communication services are disrupted in Jumla district since the last five days.

The disruption in the services has created problems in public services delivery, election campaign and personal communications for the locals.

The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Jumla district chapter has submitted a memo to the concerned authorities in the district to identify the issue and iron it out at the earliest.

The umbrella organization of journalists acknowledged that the role of media in making election a success was paramount and disruption of the communication services have made it difficult for the media to educate and inform the public about contemporary issues.

The FNJ handed over the memo to the Nepal Telecom and Nepal Telecommunication Authority in the district through Chief District Officer (CDO) of Jumla Mukesh Kumar Kesari.

CDO Kesari said that efforts were underway to fix the problem prevailing the communication sector in the district. New machines were being installed in the places to upgrade the capacity of the machines for better services.

Natural disaster occurred in the district in the mid-October had disrupted communication services in the district completely. The services had resumed after maintenance.

But the disruption recurred in the district yet again.

In this backdrop, the FNJ took the lead to prod the local authority in resumption of the communication services, according to FNJ Jumla district President Netra Bahadur Shahi.
