Power production in Nuwakot hydels halted as man climbs on transmission wires

KATHMANDU: Power production in Upper Trishuli Three 3A Hyrdropower Station and some small hydropower projects in Kakani, Nuwakot, has been halted after a person climbed on a power transmission line and has been clinging onto it.

Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has shut down its power projects and cut off power supply to the transmission line after a person climbed on the Trishuli-Matatirtha transmission line in Kakani Rural Municipality-7.

According to the police, Maila BK of of Ghalegaun of Belkotgadhi Municipality-13 reached the wires by climbing the transmission line pole.

“BK is clinging to the transmission wires for the past four-five hours, therefore, we have cut the power supply,” said NEA Spokesperson Suresh Bhattarai.

Police and locals’ urge to BK to come down has gone futile as he refused to climb down the transmission line.

“He was about to come down earlier, but he has changed his mind. The local police unit and the locals are trying to get him off the transmission line safely,” said District Police Office, Nuwakot.
