KATHMANDU: The commercial banks have decided to stay the interest rates in Jestha.

The Nepal Bankers Association (NBA), an umbrella organization of the commercial banks, decided not to raise the interest rates of banks for the next month.

According to sources, NBA has already informed commercial banks about its decision.

Commercial banks, which had hiked interest rates in Falgun (February 13-March 14), had kept it stable in Chaitra and Baishakh. The banks had hiked the interest rates hoping it could help in addressing liquidity crunch.

Now, the interest rate for the month of Jestha, (May 15 to June 14) will remain the same.

At present, the interest rate of commercial banks is 11.03 percent.
