Nepal-Vietnam Chamber concludes 11th annual general assembly by electing new 25-member working committee

KATHMANDU: The Nepal-Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NVCCI) has concluded its 11th annual general assembly on Thursday by electing a new 25-member working committee for the next three years term.

NVCCI, which has a special contribution to the development and promotion of the social, agri-business, and tourism sectors of the country, has elected Deepak Kumar Malhotra as its president from its 11th general assembly.

Likewise, Dhurba Kumar Shrestha is elected senior vice president, Suresh Man Shrestha, Sunil Bhakta Shrestha as vice presidents, Gopal Das Manandhar as general secretary, and Kavi Kumar Tiwarewala as treasurer.

The newly-elected working committee also passed some resolutions to be achieved during its three-year tenure.

NVCCI committed to increasing tourist arrivals from Vietnam to Nepal via Gautam Buddha International Airport, which is in the final stage of completion. To meet its commitment, NVCCI is to coordinate with various agencies concerned with both countries.

Other resolutions include the facilitation of imports and exports by cooperating with the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, facilitating the support of experts and new agricultural technologies, increasing agricultural production, contributing positively to the country’s food security, and making information technology effective.

NVCCI is also committed to furthering its existing trade with Vietnam and to taking initiatives to create a new investment climate to make its working sectors more effective in the coming days.
