Shrestha recommended as SC Justice, Kunwar as High Court Chief Judge



KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Judicial Council (JC) has recommended the Chief Judge of Biratnagar High Court Til Prasad Shrestha as the Justice of Supreme Court.

A meeting of the JC led by Acting Chief Justice Deepak Kumar Karki on Thursday recommended appointment of Shrestha to the post.

Similarly, the meeting also recommended the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court Lal Bahadur Kunwar as the chief judge of High Court.

The Prime Minister shall appoint the Justice of the Supreme Court on the recommendation of the Judicial Council in line with Article 129 (2) of the Constitution and the Chief Justice shall appoint the Chief Judge of High Court in accordance with Article 140 (1).
