KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress Spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat said it is the duty of Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota to move forward United States grant Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact in the parliament as it had already registered as House agenda.

Speaking at a program of Nepal Students Union on Friday, he said, “Speaker Sapkota should move ahead procedures of the House. It is the responsibility of the Speaker to table the proposal registered by the government in the House.“

He added, “There will be clause-wise discussions in the House on MCC, and everything will be crystal clear.”

NC Spokesperson Mahat remarked that MCC turned into controversy in the last one year.

“Political leaders and parties that supported MCC in the past have changed their position now. It is unfortunate that propaganda is being done to create more confusion. MCC is not a project that is against any country,” he said.
