Search on for 13 people missing in Tilagupha landslide



KALIKOT: A search is on for the 13 people who reportedly went missing in a landslide triggered by incessant rain for five days at Ranchuli, Tilagupha Municipality-4 in Kalikot district.

Chief District Officer Ram Hari Sharma said they were among the 53 people who were attending a funeral of a local youth on October 8.

CDO Sharma said, out of the 53 people attending the funeral, 13 are suspected to have been swept away by the landslide down to the Tila River.

Those missing in the disaster are 63-year-old Dhana Bahadur Shahi, 40-year-old Kali Bahadur Shahi, 36-year-old Chhatra Jung Shahi, 26-year-old Khagendra Shahi, 23-year-old Bhesh Bahadur Shahi, 55-year-old Dhana Shahi, 76-year-old Ali Shahi, 23-year-old Khem Raj Shahi, 57-year-old Man Bahadur Shahi, 41-year-old Motilal Shahi, 56-year-old Param Bahadur Shahi, 24-year-old Naresh Shahi and 23-year-old Prashanta Shahi.

A team of Nepal Police, the Armed Police Force and Nepali Army is mobilized for searching for the missing persons, CDO Sharma said.

He added that five days of rainfall has caused big loss in Kalikot.

Five persons of a single family had gone missing due to a landslide occurred at Tilagupha Municipality-5 on Sunday.
