Rival Malla files complaint against NC Prez Deuba’s nomination with EC

KATHMANDU: Rival candidate Karna Malla has filed a complaint with the Election Commission against the candidacy of Nepali Congress President and incumbent Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Both Malla and Deuba have filed nominations for the House of Representative elections from Dadeldhura constituency.

A complaint has been filed stating that Deuba’s date of birth in the voter’s list and in the citizenship was a mismatch.

Deuba’s date of birth on his citizenship is “Jestha 31, 2003”, whereas it is “Jestha 31, 2002” in the voters list.

Malla filed a complaint pointing out the discrepancy in Deuba’s date of birth in two documents. Malla has also demanded cancellation of Deuba’s candidacy on grounds of the error.

Dadeldhura Chief Election Officer Balkrishna Wagle confirmed that a complaint has been filed against Deuba’s candidacy.

“A complaint has been filed and necessary action has been started on the complaint,” he said, adding, a decision on the complaint against Deuba would be made by tomorrow.

He said, “There is time till tomorrow to investigate the complaint. We will decide by tomorrow.
