Children of natural born citizens should be given citizenship on basis of descent: UML Chair Oli



KATHMANDU: CPN UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that children of natural born citizens should get citizenship on the basis of descent.

Speaking to mediapersons at Biratnagar Airport on Saturday, he opined that the government should bring an amendment to the citizenship bill by incorportaing the provision stating the children of natural born citizens would get the citizenship of the basis of descendants.

Chair Oli said, “Such a bill with amendment would be passed in three days in parliament.”

He accused the government of not trying to solve the problem through Citizenship Bill and making it a contentious matter.

He requested the coalition parties not to politicize Citizenship Bill for vote bank.

He also accused four leaders of being involved in massive corruption in the country.
