KATHMANDU: The National Conference of the Nepal Trade Union Congress, an umbrella organization of workers close to the ruling Nepali Congress (NC), is scheduled to be held in Kathmandu on June 12 and 13.
A meeting of the Central Working Committee held at the Central Office of the Trade Union Congress in Anamnagar on Thursday decided to hold a conference on June 12 and 13 at Nepal Academy, Kamaladi.
Ajay Kumar Rai, the vice-president of the Trade Union Congress and coordinator of the conference publicity committee, said that 1,600 delegates from all over the country would participate in the two-day conference.
Leaders including party president and prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, party leader Dr Shekhar Koirala and Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand are scheduled to address the inaugural session on the first day of the two-day conference.
On the first day of the conference, there will be a thematic conference on contribution-based social security and a thematic conference on ILO Convention 190 on Workplace Violence and Abuse.
There is a closed session program on the second day of the conference. During the closed session, discussions will be held on the impact on the workers due to rising prices and the amendment of the constitution of the Nepal Trade Union Congress, said Rai.
Similarly, the conference is said to solve the burning current problem of workers.
