Deputy mayoral candidate of Maharajgunj municipality Kurmi dies



KAPILVASTU: The deputy mayoral candidate of Maharajgunj municipality Shubhawati Kurmi has passed away. Kurmi died of cardiac arrest on Monday night, her family sources have said.

Earlier, Kurmi had been the deputy mayor of this municipality.

Chief returning officer Tejendra Sapkota said that the Nepali Congress (NC) can nominate another candidate for the post of deputy mayor with the passing of Kurmi.

NC Lumbini Pradesh General Secretary Surendra Raj Acharya said preparations are underway to field a new candidate so as to conduct the local elections on the time scheduled.
