NDU writes to UN demanding restoration of Tibet’s independence

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Democratic Union has expressed solidarity with the liberation movement in Tibet.

On Thursday, on the occasion of the 63rd Tibetan Uprising Day, Union President Siddhartha Gautam wrote a memorandum to the United Nations expressing solidarity with the Tibetan movement.

The memorandum called on Communist China to immediately withdraw its encroachment on Tibet and respect the independence and democracy of the Tibetan people.

It also warned that communist China would soon see the day when it would be expelled from the world community and begin the days of its downfall.

“On the occasion of the 63rd Tibetan Uprising Day, the Nepal Democratic Union (NDU) wishes the Tibetan people a happy 63-year-old Tibetan Uprising Day and wishes the Tibetan liberation movement freedom from China’s clutches,” the statement said.

Not only the people’s movement but also the movement for justice, freedom, human rights and democracy is a part of the world community, it said.

It said that the Nepal Democratic Union expresses its solidarity with the Tibetan liberation movement on behalf of the democracy-loving people and government of the world, as well as the Nepalese people.

The organization, which is responsible for promoting peace, freedom, human rights and the protection of democracy in the world, also called on the United Nations to take the necessary steps to guarantee the freedom, human rights and democracy of the Tibetan people.

In addition, a special request has been made to create an environment for Tibet to be liberated from the expansionist totalitarian occupation of Communist China.
