Sankhuwasabha bus mishap: Chopper to rescue the injured

KATHMANDU: A helicopter is going to be sent to rescue the injured of Sankhuwasabha bus accident.

The chopper is going to be sent after the direction of Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand.

Home Minister Khand has directed Home Secretary Tek Narayan Pandey and Chief District Officer of Sankhuwasabha, Nurhari Khatiwada, to rescue the injured as soon as possible using the helicopter.

Spokesperson at the Home Ministry, Phanindra Mani Pokharel, said, “The Home Minister has asked to rescue the injured. We are preparing to send a helicopter for the rescue by contacting the Nepali Army.”

CDO Khatiwada shared that as many as 14 people died and five others were critically injured when a passenger-ferrying bus en route to Damak, Jhapa from Okharbote Bazaar of Madi, Sankhuwasava fell some 300 meters off the road at Madi Municipality-6, Saatghumti this morning.

The injured have been taken to Chainpur from the incident site and preparation is underway to send the injured to Dharan from a helicopter, he added.

The incident site is 60 kilometers away from the district headquarter and detail information about the accident is being collected, said Khatiwada.
