14 killed in Sankhuwasabha bus accident



SANKHUWASABHA:  Fourteen people have died in a bus accident that took place in Sankhuwasabha district on Thursday morning.

An ill-fated bus, Na 4 Kha 735, en-route to Damak from Madi of Sankhuwasabha met with an accident at Sat Ghumti  in Madi municipality-6 at around 7 am.

DSP Lal Dhwaj Subedi, the chief of District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha said the dead bodies of fourteen passengers have been retrieved so far. The identities of the deceased have not yet been ascertained. Five people have been rescued alive.

“The dead bodies of fourteen people have been retrieved. Five others have been injured,” said DSP Subedi, adding, “The identities of the deceased are yet to be ascertained.”

Around 19 to 21 people were traveling in the bus, according to a local. The injured are receiving treatment at Chainpur Hospital. The number of deceased is likely to increase, said Subedi.

The bus had fallen some 300 meters down the road.
