NC leader Koirala proposes contesting local level elections on own; rules out any kind of alliance

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr. Shashank Koirala has said that the party should go to the local level election slated for May 13 on its own, refusing the idea of NC partnering with other parties in the polls.

At a meeting of the party’s Central Working Committee (CWC) held on Thursday, he said that the party should not opt to form an alliance in the local elections.

Talking to reporters after the meeting, Koirala said that the party should refrain from forming an alliance for the sake of its own identity. “Now we have to save our existence, we have to go to the polls without striking deals with any other party,” Koirala said.

A meeting of NC CWC held at the party office in Sanepa concluded by discussing the local level election and other issues.
