UML urges Speaker to postpone HoR meet slated for Monday

KATHMANDU: The main opposition party CPN-UML has urged Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota to postpone the meeting of the House of Representatives called for Monday, February 14.

The UML is organizing a provincial gathering in Biratnagar the same day.

“The two events coincided and we have urged to shift the HoR meeting to another day,” UML parliamentary party chief whip Bishal Bhattarai.

Bhattarai said the UML gathering is going to hamper the HoR meeting as many parliamentarians are participating in provincial program.

The HoR meetings have been postponed six times of late.

The ruling alliance partners CPN-Maoist Center and the Unified Socialist Party in collusion with Speaker Sapkota are reportedly putting off the House after the Nepali Congress resolved to move forward with the US grant Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact in the parliament amid differences with partners in government.
