Education Ministry decides to close schools until Jan 29



KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has decided to close educational institutes until January 29.

A meeting of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology held on Monday morning took a decision to this effect in line with the recommendation made by the COVID19 Crisis Management Coordination Center (CCMCC), informed Joint Secretary at the ministry Deepak Sharma.

“Educational institutes will remain closed as per the recommendation of the CCMCC. The ministry will not take further decisions,” said Sharma, adding, “We will issue a notice, accordingly.”

A meeting of the CCMCC on Sunday recommended the government to close schools until January 29 keeping in mind the increasing cases of COVID19 of late.

The government took the decisions in view of the increasing number of COVID19 cases. As many as 24 coronavirus cases with Omicron variant were detected in the country on Friday.

The country has been recording an alarming surge in the coronavirus cases with the daily count reaching 1,167 on Sunday.
