Senior pilot Vijay Lama barred from flying for breaking rules

KATHMANDU: Nepal Airlines senior pilot Vijay Lama has been barred from flying for breaking aviation rules.

Lama has been alleged of giving an interview from the cockpit without the permission of the Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN).

People are not allowed to enter the cockpit except for the crew members.

However, senior pilot Lama was dragged into the investigation after giving a video interview to a vlogger in the cockpit.

According to Gyanendra Bhul, information officer of the Authority, Lama’s name has been removed from the flight roster until the investigation report is received.

Recently, aviation vlogger Sam Chui made public an interview with pilot Lama from the cockpit in a vlog of the Dubai-Kathmandu route.

Pilot Lama is currently under investigation.

Lama, who is currently flying the corporation’s wide-body aircraft in contract service, has been asked to submit a written explanation within two days.
