Minister Shrestha lauds role of photography in reflecting society



KATHMANDU: Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration, Rajendra Prasad Shrestha, has described photography as the effective genre of journalism.

In his address to a program organized in Kathmandu on Tuesday to give away photo journalism award, the minister said photo journalism is one of the effective means of communications as it paints a real picture of the society.

He took time to say that photography has its contribution to the conservation of art and culture, imparting significant information of the related field. The program organized by Bishnu Nati Photojournalism Award Guthi and this year’s Bishnu Nati Photojournalism Award was presented to Gorkhapatra Daily’s photo journalist Bikash Dware.

He bags a cash prize of Rs 10,000 along with a letter of appreciation. He is the first recipient of the award.

Organisation founder Natikaji Maharjan said the award ceremony will be continued in the years ahead. (RSS)
