No compromise on determining Biratnagar as province capital: Mayor Koirala

BIRATNAGAR: Mayor of Biratnagar Metropolitan City (BMC), Nagesh Koirala, has said there can be no compromise on determining Biratnagar as the permanent capital city of Province-1.

He made it clear that BMC would extend support in creating infrastructures for the provincial capital.

The province government has been searching for land to construct physical infrastructures for capital city.

A committee has also been formed to this effect.

“We have already the adequate infrastructures. If additional land is required, BMC will extend help,” he reiterated.

The province government had determined the Biratnagar as the temporary provincial capital in line with the concept of ‘greater Birat region.

The greater Birat region has incorporated 18 local levels. Mayor Koirala however said the province government had not written any formal letter to this regard.
