Upcoming local election to be cheaper than 2017’s poll: EC



KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has said the local level election being held on May 13 this year is going to cost less than the local election held in 2017.

Stating that exact expense per voter was likely to be known after the election, EC Spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Poudel said, “Nevertheless, we can say that this May 13 election is going to be less expensive than the one held in 2017.”

Journalists raised questions about the election expenses during EC’s regular press conference on Monday. Responding to queries, the EC spokesman said that the EC estimated that the election this time will be cheaper than in 2017.”

Local elections were held in three phases in 2017.

This time, local elections are being held all over the country on May 13.
