Nepali woman stabbed to death in India

INDORE: A Nepali woman has been stabbed to death in India.

Indore police arrested a man for allegedly stabbing a Nepali woman to death at her rented accommodation in Gurukul Nagar under Rau area police station limits.

The deceased has been identified as Krishna (28), who was murdered on Friday when she was alone at her house, police said, India Today reported.

The police probe revealed that the accused, Virendra Lodhi, killed the woman when her husband, Govind, had gone to his job in the Pigdambar area over a petty dispute. Police also announced an award of Rs 10,000 for information leading to the arrest of the accused.

The murder came to the fore when neighbors informed Govind that his wife had been stabbed by an unidentified person.

Govind found his wife injured in the house, lying in a pool of blood, and immediately rushed her to a hospital where she died while undergoing treatment.

Police recorded the statement of the victim’s husband and started an investigation into the matter. A team led by senior police officials was constituted and cops started analyzing and scanning CCTV footage to find a breakthrough in the case.

Police officials scanned around 150 CCTV footage and also carried out search operations at various places. After technical surveillance and a long chase, police established the identity of the accused in one of the CCTV footage but failed to apprehend him from his house. Police received information that the accused had fled to Sagar district in Madhya Pradesh, following which a team was sent to Sagar, leading to the arrest of the accused.

During interrogation, the accused confessed to his crime and told the police that he killed the woman over a petty dispute. Police have also filed a case against the landlord of the house for not cooperating with the officials during the investigation. The accused lived in a rented house but the owner refused to give clues about him to the police and now a case has been filed against him.
