EC forms task force for feasibility study on use of electronic voting machines in local elections



KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has formed a task force to study the feasibility of using electronic voting machines in the local level election scheduled for May 13.

After the meeting with the experts and ministry officials concerned on Wednesday, the EC decided to form the task force for the feasibility study on the use of voting machines.

According to EC sources, the task force formed under the coordination of Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology Anil Kumar Dutt has representatives from EC, Department of Industry, Inland Revenue Department, Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) and other bodies.

The task force has been given one week to study and submit the report.
