Academies begin celebration of National Unity Day



KATHMANDU: Various institutions, including academies, began celebration of the National Unity Day from today.

Nepal Academy, Academy of Fine Arts, Academy of Music and Drama, and Cultural Association jointly launched a three-day celebration.

On the first day, an exhibition of books was organized on the premises of Nepal Academy. Chancellor Ganga Prasad Uprety informed that the book exhibition would run for a week.

Similarly, Academy of Fine Arts organized an exhibition of fine arts as part of the celebration on Sunday. Academy Chancellor Kanchha Kumar Karmacharya informed that the exhibition was a weeklong program. There are 134 creations. The creations in exhibition are focused on unity.

Many reflect the message of national unity spread by Prithvi Narayan Shah.

A discussion is scheduled for Monday on role of Prithvi Narayan Shah on unification of Nepal.

Similarly, a cultural pageant and garlanding the statue of Prithvi Narayan Shah will be organized.
