KATHMANDU: Locals of Bancharedanda have obstructed the disposal of garbage in Kathmandu for the second consecutive day (Wednesday).

The locals have obstructed the dumping of garbage stating that their demands have not been addressed.

According to the Environment Department of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, there is an obstruction in garbage disposal due to the ongoing protests by the locals.

Garbage collection in Kathmandu was started on Tuesday after a tripartite agreement was reached between the Ministry of Urban Development, Kathmandu Metropolitan City, and the people’s representatives of the two municipalities of Nuwakot.

On Tuesday, a vehicle carrying garbage from Kathmandu was stopped by locals on the way. Garbage was later dumped at Bancharedanda with the help of security personnel.

The locals of Bancharedanda have been saying that they are not aware of the tripartite decision reached by their representatives to allow the dumping of garbage in Bancharedanda.
