EC poll code forbids campaigning on social media as well



KATHMANDU: The code of conduct is being implemented for local-level elections from Friday midnight.

The Election Commission, in a press conference Friday, said that the code of conduct would come into force from April 9.

According to the code of conduct, no one is allowed to publish/post materials in favor of either sides on mainstream media as well as on social media.

The Election Commission clarified that the party or candidate could campaign only on their official pages.

It added printing/manufacturing and distribution of election materials such as bags, t-shirts and batches were also forbidden.
