Ruling coalition to issue joint statement on electoral alliance



KATHMANDU: The ruling five-party alliance is set to issue a joint statement on the electoral alliance among the five ruling partners.

A meeting of the coalition held at the Prime Minister’s official residence, Baluwatar decided to issue a joint statement in favor of an electoral alliance to create a nationwide atmosphere for the local level elections to be held on May 18.

According to a Baluwatar source, the meeting also dwelt on the upcoming local level elections among other contemporary political issues.

Senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel has also presented a progress report on the electoral alliance during today’s meeting.

The ruling coalition has formed a committee led by Poudel for the preparation, mobilization  and monitoring of the upcoming local level elections. Today’s meeting is also expected to chalk out a strategy for the upcoming elections.

Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist), Janata Samajwadi Party, and Rashtriya Janamorcha Nepal are in the ruling alliance.

The local level election is being held on May 13.
